Math

Mandatory for B.Arch

Both fields look incredibly creative. Both involve intense drawing, spatial visualization, and modeling. But in reality, Design (B.Des) and Architecture (B.Arch) are fundamentally different careers.

Myth: I like sketching, so I should be an Architect.

Reality: Architecture involves heavy technical CAD drafting, physics, and bylaws.

Myth: Design has no scope.

Reality: UI/UX and Industrial designers often command higher starting salaries.

Myth: Architecture is just engineering with drawing.

Reality: It requires navigating legal bylaws, contractors, and site realities.

Myth: Design is easy because there is no Math.

Reality: Product design requires mechanical logic; UI/UX needs data analytics.

What You Actually Build

Smartphones, Digital Apps (UI/UX), Fashion Collections, Brand Identities, ergonomic furniture, smart wearables, and complex services.

Your Daily Tasks

Conducting user research, rapid 3D prototyping, iterative testing, presenting wireframes, and visually communicating open-ended ideas.

What You Actually Build

Designing residential homes, massive skyscrapers, urban plazas, and sustainable cities. You will constantly manage physical gravity, load-bearing structures, and safety laws.

Your Daily Tasks

Drafting precise construction models (AutoCAD/Revit), conducting regular site inspections, coordinating with civil engineers, and navigating complex government building bylaws daily.

For Design (B.Des)

Exams: UCEED, NID-DAT, NIFT. Focus: Evaluates visual logic, creative thinking, and spatial aptitude. Open to all streams.

For Architecture (B.Arch)

Exams: NATA, JEE Paper 2. Focus: Evaluates spatial geometry, advanced Math, and 3D drawing. Strictly requires PCM.

List the 4 points (love diverse problems, tech/fashion focus, rapid prototyping, no heavy math).

βœ… Choose Architecture if:

List the 4 points (fascinated by buildings, handle technical math, want licensed path, patient for long projects).
